Tokyo Ghoul :re Episode 1 Review
I was both very excited and afraid to see this episode. But everything turned out well.
Like most Manga Readers I was afraid that the Storyline would begin to change and go afar from the Manga, but it's too soon to tell anyways.
This episode was good, the Animation itself was majestic. I am glad they turned Uri's hair Black and shaded Mutskuki's so they don't look too weird. The fighting scenes were cool, as well as the rendering of the Kagune, which is obviously Animated to look cooler and more bad-ass than it actually is, but that's completely fine. I think they dropped the Coloured Kagunes idea that was present in the first 2 seasons and I'm glad. I hope they keep up the good work with the Animation of the Kagunes.
But that's not all the are going to talk about here.
Aside from the Artstyle, which again, I like very much, the story seems to stick close to the Manga with very few noticeable changes. This is not to say that it's going to be like this for the next episodes as well though, but let's close an eye on it for a minute and rest.
The introduction of the Characters was good, although, I've heard complaints about the way Mutsuki was introduced and I really don't see where those come from. Just like the complaints on the Taxi Ride with Uri, where the conversation between him and the Taxi rider was cut. It's not relevant to the storyline so it's good that they excluded it, in my opinion. It saved a couple minutes. After all, you gotta cut every single irrelevant scene if you really want to adapt 6 characters in a 20 minutes episode. Which I think wasn't a bad idea either, considering how long TG:re is.
Removing the scene where Torso tears open Mutsuki's suit to reveal his actual sex wasn't a bad idea, since it will be shown eventually, probably during the Auction Raid or a bit later on. It's not very important for now.
My only complaint is the Mado-Punch scene. It could have been much better, but it felt too empty, and less hilarious of course. But I'll close an eye on it for now.
So far it seems to aim in the right direction and I'm looking forward to the next episode with much excitement. You may leave your impressions in the comments if you'd like, and
