Tokyo Ghoul :re Season 2 Episode 2 Review

Before I watched the episodes I couldn't help but notice how so many people were hating on it. Manga readers of course, the number was alarming. But upon watching the episode I find myself in a position where I must disagree.
One of the things that received the most hate was indeed the fight between Arima and Kaneki. So far I don't think Studio Pierrot has been able to animate a fight decently in the Tokyo Ghoul franchise since the Kaneki VS Jason finale. But this, this very fight was animated way better than I had expected. The animation was much more continuous and alive than other fights we've seen in the previous season, as it should. It could have done much worse, it's not perfect but it's the infamous fight everyone.
As for the rest, it's been a while since I've read the Manga and because of this I haven't noticed if something was left out or not. Overall it seemed very canon to the Manga.
Plot aside, let's talk about character development. I've seen some claims that Mutsuki's Development would be completely cut out and it was strongly hinted by the studio itself when Mutsuki appeared in the first trailer with her usual Dark Green hair rather than White (which was later corrected upon the release of Episode 1). I don't think this is the case, this because at the end of this episode when a preview of the one to come is shown, we get a quick glance at the scene between Mutsuki and Torso that will, hopefully, be extended in the next episode, showcasing Mutsuki's flashbacks as to build up her character like it should.
Overall the episode was great and animated well enough. I must say, I'm in love with the artstyle of :re, which is noticeably different from the one in Root A and S1. The colors are dimmer, more emphasis has been put in the lighting and background, eyes have been re-worked and so on. So much to love about this artstyle.
Soundtrack was very chill even during the fight between Arima and Kaneki, with soft piano playing along. I saw people complaining about it but to me it looks like it fits way better than a, say, metal soundtrack would.
Not much else to do but wait for the next episode for now, which will likely be oriented towards the fights occurring on Rue island.
See you then and thanks for reading.
